केंद्र पुरस्कृत योजना असूनसुद्धा केंद्राच्या हिश्श्याचा निधी राज्यांना मिळत नव्हता. त्यामुळे राज्य सरकारला या योजनेसाठी निधी स्वत: उपलब्ध करून द्यावा लागत होता.
परिणामी, राज्याच्या तिजोरीतून सुमारे एक हजार कोटी रुपयांचा अतिरिक्त खर्च करावा लागत होता. हा प्रश्न सुटण्यासाठी सामाजिक न्यायमंत्री धनंजय मुंडे यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली समाजकल्याण आयुक्त डॉ. प्रशांत नारनवरे यांनी केंद्र सरकारकडे सातत्याने पाठपुरावा केला. अखेर केंद्र शासनाने दखल घेऊन केंद्राचा हिस्सा उपलब्ध करून देणार असल्याचे आदेश निर्गमित केले.

जास्तीत-जास्त विद्यार्थ्यांना शिष्यवृत्तीचा लाभ मिळावा यासाठी सरकार प्रयत्नशील आहे. त्यासाठी २०२०-२१ या चालू शैक्षणिक वर्षात राज्यातील सर्व महाविद्यालयांनी आणि अनुसूचित जातीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी सरकारच्या महाडीबीटी या पोर्टलवर ऑनलाईन अर्ज तत्काळ सादर करावेत. तसेच विहित वेळेत लाभार्थ्याने आपले बँक खाते आधार संलग्नीकृत करून घ्यावे, असे आवाहन समाजकल्याण आयुक्तालयाने केले आहे.
