इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग अर्थात आयपीएलची अंतिम फेरी शुक्रवारी रंगली. चेन्नई सुपरकिंग आणि कोलकाता नाईट रायडर्स या संघात रंगलेल्या या अंतिम सामन्यात महेंद्रसिंग धोनीच्या नेतृत्वाखालील चेन्नई सुपरकिंग संघाने कोलकाता नाईट रायडर्स संघावर २७ धावांनी विजय मिळवत चौथ्यांदा आयपीएल चषकावर नाव कोरले. अंतिम सामन्यात चेन्नई सुपरकिंगच फेव्हरेट होती.
आयपीएलच्या या हंगामावर चेन्नई सुपरकिंगचेच वर्चस्व राहिले आहे. या हंगामात प्ले ऑफ मध्ये पोहचणारा चेन्नई सुपरकिंग हा पहिला संघ ठरला होता. प्ले ऑफ मध्ये देखील चेन्नई सुपरकिंगने दिल्ली कॅपिटलला लीलया हरवत अंतिम फेरीत प्रवेश केला होता. अंतिम फेरीत चेन्नईने प्रथम फलंदाजी करत १९२ धावांपर्यंत मजल मारली. त्यांचे सलामीवर ऋतुराज गायकवाड आणि फाफ डुप्लेसी यांनी धडाकेबाज सलामी दिली. केवळ याच सामन्यात नाही तर संपूर्ण हंगामात या जोडीने कमाल केली. या जोडीने या स्पर्धेत सर्वात जास्त धावा फटकावल्या.
ऋतुराज गायकवाड याने सर्वाधिक धावा फटकावत ऑरेंज कॅप मिळवली तर फाफ डुप्लेसीनेही ऋतुराज पाठोपाठ सर्वाधिक धावा फटकावत दुसरा क्रमांक मिळवला. चेन्नई सुपरकिंगला चॅम्पियन बनवण्यात या जोडीचा मोठा वाटा आहे. रॉबिन उथप्पा आणि मोईन खान यांनीही अनुक्रमे तिसऱ्या व चौथ्या क्रमांकवर येत आक्रमक खेळ केला. चेन्नईच्या गोलंदाजांनी देखील देखील चांगली गोलंदाजी करून आपली जबाबदारी चोख पार पाडली.

चेन्नई सुपरकिंगने क्षेत्ररक्षणही चांगले केले. त्यांचा कर्णधार महेंद्रसिंग धोनीने नेहमीप्रमाणेच आपल्या संघाचे कुशलतेने नेतृत्व केले. महेंद्रसिंग धोनी याला जगातील सर्वोत्तम कर्णधार का मानले जाते याचे उत्तरच त्याने या सामन्यात दिले. रॉबिन उथप्पा संपूर्ण हंगामात राखीव खेळाडू होता मात्र धोनीने त्याला प्ले ऑफ आणि अंतिम सामन्यात खेळवले इतकेच नाही तर त्याला तिसऱ्या क्रमांकावर खेळण्यास पाठवले. धोनीची ही खेळी चांगलीच यशस्वी झाली कारण उथप्पाने दोन्ही सामन्यात आक्रमक खेळी केली. त्याच्या खेळीने मधल्या षटकात चेन्नई ला आपली धावसंख्या कायम राखता आली.
धोनीचा हा निर्णय मास्टरस्ट्रोक ठरला. गोलंदाजीतही त्याने केलेले बदल प्रतिस्पर्धी संघाला बुचकळ्यात टाकणारे होते. जर एखाद्या गोलंदाजाला एखाद्या षटकात मार पडला तर तो स्वतः त्या गोलंदाजाशी बोलून त्यांचा आत्मविश्वास वाढवत होता. त्याने लावलेले क्षेत्ररक्षण देखील अप्रतिम असेच होते. एकूणच या हंगामात चेन्नई सुपरकिंगने सर्वच क्षेत्रात अप्रतिम कामगिरी करून आपणच आयपीएलचे सुपरकिंग आहोत हे दाखवून दिले. आयपीएल चॅम्पियन चेन्नई सुपरकिंगचे अभिनंदन!
